This week's power blackouts caught the attention of the world; now militants have blown open Gaza's southern border with Egypt, and Israel could act by force to close it. The international community can end this crisis, and help save civilians on all sides. This isn't about taking sides in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict: it's about 1.5 million human beings locked up in the biggest prison on earth. The unsustainable blockade must be lifted and the border opened properly, with external controls to prevent weapons smuggling. Meanwhile, the missile war between Israel and Gaza will only be stopped by a reciprocal ceasefire which Hamas says it would negotiate. | Dear Member/Visitor, In preparations for 60th anniversary for Nakba, al-Jazeera English TV is producing a movie about your beloved city Jaffa (The Bride of the sea). The main theme for the documentary focuses on a particular street in Jaffa where Palestinian families used to live, and later the same exact house or shop was usurped (taken over) by Israelis. They narrowed down their choice to a particular street called Talmas (طالمس), and they need your help identifying Palestinian families who own properties on that street. If you know any person who used to live on this Jaffa Street before Nakba, or may have an interesting story, memory or experience relating to this street, please click here to post all relevant information in the below comments sections.
